Inanna Rising is delighted to host another free live online training for members/low fee for non-members.  On April 25th, beloved psychedelic educator, Dr. Valeria McCarroll, will help us examine the role of myth in psychedelic experience.

While we think today of myths as fairy tales, the original meaning (according to mythologist Michael Meade) is that myths reveal to us “emergent truth”. From myths, we can  find meaning and purpose in our human experience – even in the most cataclysmic of moments.

The myth of Inanna, the ancient Sumerian goddess of love and war, provides a unique framework for understanding psychedelic experience. In the story of her descent, death, and rebirth, an initiatory orientation to psychedelic experience as a rite of passage is illuminated. A rite of passage is an experience from which there is no return, an alchemical ring-pass-not.

What can we learn from the myth of Inanna? Together, we’ll explore her myth as a teaching story and the initiatory framework that is revealed. Approaching the material from a mytho-somatic perspective, we’ll engage the applications of her myth, both personal and collective.

Valeria McCarroll, PhD, LMFT, is a psychedelic educator, writer, and speaker. Formally trained as a guide in expanded states of consciousness, she teaches critical courses on psychedelic humanities to students at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Her background includes licensure as a marriage and family therapist, a doctorate in psychology, a certificate in psychedelic therapies and research, as well as thousands of hours of study and practice in a variety of therapeutic and spiritual traditions. Her interests lie at the intersection of nondual wisdom traditions, somatics, psychedelics, and social and transformative justice. She lives in Northern California.

Embodying Self for Sustainable Activism

Inanna Rising is proud to host another free live online training for members/low fee for non-members on June 27th. This one by our very own board member, Regina Wei, MA, LMFT.

People are called to engage in activism in many arenas and for many reasons, but almost by definition activism involves commitment, perseverance, and a deep, sometimes driving, sense of purpose. What differentiates sustainableactivism from other forms of activism? This workshop uses an IFS (Internal Family Systems) framework to name how parts-driven activism can lead to ineffective interventions, unintended consequences, and burnout.

Self-led activism, by contrast, feels very different from parts-driven activism. Self-led activism leads to sustainable results both for ourselves as well as for folx we engage in conversation. Rather than feeling discouraged and depleted, we feel more resourced. Rather than countering with defensiveness or reactivity, folx we approach are more likely to respond openly to suggestions and perspectives, thus making change more likely. When we are Self-led and engage with intention, deep healing is possible for all parties, and oftentimes the result is more connection and community rather than alienation or discord.

The presenter draws from their extensive experiences in activist work—both parts-driven and Self-led—to guide participants in an experiential exploration of their activist parts. By the end of the workshop, following small and large group sharing, participants will feel equipped to identify, partner with, and support their activist parts from Self. Prior experience with IFS is helpful but not necessary for participants to benefit from this workshop.

workshop duration: 2 hours (may be longer if more time is needed for small and large group processing)

LEARNING OBJECTIVESParticipants will be able to:
1. Identify which of their parts engage in activism and articulate why parts-driven activism leads to burnout.
2. Identify and address internal and external obstacles that may stymie activism in spite of good intentions.
3. Practice Self-led activism for best outcomes, sustainability, and to prevent burnout.

Welcome to Inanna Rising! We are so glad you stopped by!

The quintessential feminine self stands at the center of the psyche and it is wild, meaning natural and free, and utterly wise. It is not 'something' we must strive to create. This Self is already fully present, burning strong and waiting for us to come into its presence.

We bring these values to our appreciation of and challenges in the color wheel of diversity and opinion that we all bring. We choose to mindfully listen, respond, and grow.
  • Social Responsibility: We proudly support and uplift indigenous communities and their sacred land. A significant portion of every monthly membership fee goes directly into our reparations fund and is paid out to an indigenous non-profit each quarter. We recognize and honor the current and historical role our sacred shamans and medicine healers continue to play.
  • Accessible Healing: Our healers passionately work with potential funders towards the creation of a scholarship fund, making these transformative healing modalities accessible to their underserved patients, especially those who are under-resourced.
  • Holistic Healing: As clinicians, we firmly believe in and practice mindful healing approaches, consciousness expansion therapy, transformational therapy experiences, and integrative medicine for mental health. We are also committed to trauma-informed psychedelic therapy and accessible mental health treatment.

Inanna Rising Values: Guiding OUR practice

At Inanna Rising, we uphold a set of core values that define our ethical commitment to healing and transformation. Our community is dedicated to the following principles:

We believe in the power of integrated and collaborative care as the best practice for healing. This approach ensures that individuals seeking healing receive comprehensive and ethical care delivered by a dedicated team.

Continuous growth is essential. Clinicians within our community are committed to ongoing personal healing and professional development to stay at the forefront of field knowledge and treatment advancements.

We are dedicated to making evidenced-based care affordable, accessible, and culturally humble. Our goal is to provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their life circumstances through our patient equity scholarship program.

We acknowledge our responsibility to honor and support indigenous communities who have cared for our land and medicines. We seek to address the immeasurable trauma and loss they have endured. Our member reparations endowment fund will pay out to an Indiginous non-profit each quarter.

We thrive as a community of diverse like-minded individuals with shared values who embrace and celebrate safety, intersectionality, courage, and each other. Together, we grow, learn, and support one another in our collective mission.

Open, honest, respectful, compassionate, non-reactive clear communication is fundamental in our interactions with each other and how we foster safety and loving kindness. We also bring this to those we serve, fostering trust and understanding.

We recognize the importance of honoring the Earth's needs and commit to practices that restore and demonstrate gratitude to our planet.  We also acknowledge and support the growing concern and mobilization around climate distress as a critical endeavor for the well-being of our planet and future generations.  By advocating for sustainable practices, reducing our carbon footprint, and supporting policies that prioritize environmental conservation and those most affected, we contribute to the global effort to address climate distress and work towards a more resilient and sustainable future for all.

We are committed to advocacy efforts not only in healthcare but also in dismantling oppressive systems and addressing global issues. This includes raising funds for our scholarship and reparation funds.

By fostering an intentional community guided by these values, we aim to manifest the sacred and mysterious within and between us, catalyzing healing that extends beyond our community to support global efforts.

We embrace diversity, welcoming individuals of all genders, races, religions, ages, abilities, and sexual orientations within our community.

We celebrate all traditions and wisdom paths that uplift consciousness, honor love, and cherish mystical states that connect us with the Divine.

At Inanna Rising we believe in creating a therapeutic environment that prioritizes safety, well-being, and informed choices for all participants. Harm reduction is not just a principle; it is a commitment to minimizing potential risks while maximizing the therapeutic benefits of these transformative experiences.

Aligned in principle and purpose with these wisdom teachings, we can now confidently decree our willingness to become a hollow bone, an instrument of healing light in Divine partnership with Creation.

FAQs: Joining Inanna Rising – Your Questions Answered

Are you considering joining Inanna Rising's community of dedicated professionals? Here are some frequently asked questions to help you better understand our commitment to ethical healing and support:

If you're a licensed psychotherapist or medical prescriber, you'll need to be enrolled in a PAT (Psychedelic Assisted Therapy) training program or prepared to begin one. Referrals are granted after completing at least a basic training course in the relevant medicines.

Inanna Rising does not provide medical evaluations, preparation, or integration sessions. Our staff supports your clinical work by connecting you with excellent fellow member clinicians, offering continuing education, and providing a supportive community.

As an ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner), to be included on our member medical referral list, you must be licensed in a state that grants full practice authority and/or allows you to conduct medical evaluations and follow-ups on all your PAT patients.

At Inanna Rising, our core belief is centered on making healing accessible to every individual in need. To turn this belief into action, we are dedicated to raising funds for patients who may face financial barriers to treatment. Our commitment goes further as we strive to acknowledge and honor the indigenous communities that have safeguarded these healing medicines throughout history.

Indigenous Reparation Fund: Our reparation fund plays a pivotal role in our mission. It donates on a quarterly basis, directing its support towards various indigenous non-profit organizations. This initiative represents our collective effort to give back to the communities that have cared for the land and these sacred medicines, often without acknowledgment or compensation. Net proceeds from our membership fees goes into our Indigenous Reparation Fund.

Community and Board Engagement: Every member of our community, including board members, actively participates in reaching out to potential donors. Through regular contributions, we cultivate and grow these funds. This collective effort ensures that the resources become available to both clients seeking healing and organizations striving to make a positive impact. 100% of our scholarship donations goes to underserved and underrepresented patient care.

By coming together as a community, we aim to bridge gaps in accessibility and foster a spirit of recognition and gratitude. Our mission is to create a more equitable and compassionate world, one healing journey at a time.

Yes. Access to the journey space will follow a first come first served sign-up schedule and protocol to ensure a structured and supportive environment for sacred healing journeys. The journey space is reserved for members who are coming as a group to continue their own healing work. Write Support@InannaRising.org to coordinate your retreat dates.

Members can indeed run group retreats at our Sacred Journey Center. These retreats are for clinicians only. Three and four day retreats are available based on availability, except for December and August, at a 30% discount off the non-member rate. Other possible retreat lengths can be negotiated.

Referrals, trainings, consultations, participation in the indigenous reparation fund, access to our member therapists and prescribers, and community gatherings are all included in your monthly membership fee, offering comprehensive support and collaboration without additional charges.

Our name draws inspiration from Inanna, the Mesopotamian goddess symbolizing love, fertility, wisdom, and justice. Inanna represents the archetype of the Sacred Feminine, embodying feminine energy and wisdom. By honoring the Sacred Feminine, we seek to restore balance, heal the wounds of patriarchy, and create a more just and compassionate society.
